For some of us, the last few years have greatly impacted how we live, work, and travel. With restrictions around the globe effectively gone, and travel making a BIG comeback, let’s take a look at a few major trends we’ll be seeing in 2023 and beyond!

Epic Trips

Revenge travel has never been hotter, and big, bucket-list trips are taking travelers by storm. With all of the time spent at home, in lockdown, teaching your kids through remote schooling, or simply saving money that would ordinarily be spent on vacations – travelers are ready to go all out on their next escape.

Active travelers are planning treks across the Serengeti or looking to scale Machu Picchu. Luxury lovers are considering pampered stays at the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris, or yachting across the Mediterranean. Those looking to go on their honeymoon are dreaming about not just one, but two or more honeymoon destinations – all rolled into a loved up mega getaway!

Workcations

With remote work on the rise, more employees are taking their laptops on the road and blurring the lines between work and play. Whether it’s a weeklong escape to a cabin or a month-long tropical getaway, as long as there’s a WiFi connection – workcations can be made possible.

While gracing the 2023 travel trends list, workcations are not new. Digital nomads have been plugging away on their laptops for years in the jungles of Costa Rica, the beaches of Mexico, and at cafés in Paris. Now it’s just an option for an increasing number of remote workers.

Staycations

Something else that we’ve all done a lot of these last few years is staying home. And while there’s great comfort in your own space, there’s also something to be said for soft, high thread-count sheets, room service, and uninterrupted quiet time.

Individuals who are unable to travel out of state or out of the country, staycations can provide the perfect antidote. From visiting local spas and staying in hotels to discovering nearby attractions, travelers don’t need to venture far to relax, unwind, or explore somewhere new. Niche Travel

Travel is deeply personal, and for many, their trip is built around a specific theme or desire to learn.

Growing with popular demand is voluntourism (combining your vacation with giving back), culinary tourism (with a focus on regional cuisine, chefs, and cooking classes), Agro Tourism (visiting working farms or ranches), polar tourism, and even getting in line for space tourism.

Pets Rule

After spending a considerable amount of time at home with your four-legged family members, you may not want to part with them on your next vacation.

It’s no secret that our pets are valued members of the family, and the travel industry is recognizing it. Hotels are going far above and beyond welcoming your furry companion with the requisite dog bed and bowl. Think canine-specific room-service menus, pet-friendly restaurant spaces, in-room massage, and reiki (for your dog, not you!). You can find more pet-friendly vacation ideas here.

While there may only be a few months left in 2023, travel is forever, and the trends are constantly changing, so stay informed and make your next vacation the best one yet!
